What Does It Mean to Offer a Luxury Wellness Retreat?

This is a question I often hear from others and a question I’ve asked myself. With a background in hotel management and years of experience in both luxury and lifestyle hotels, I hold a high standard for what luxury truly means. But unlike hotels, where we have clear standards to classify and ensure a luxury experience, the retreat space lacks similar benchmarks. As a result, the definition of "luxury" in wellness retreats is often determined by the vision of the organizer, which can vary widely.

When I founded House of Bcoming, I hesitated to use the term "luxury" in our communications. However, my foundation in luxury hospitality has instilled in me a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver excellence in service, so I wanted to share how we interpret luxury within our retreats.

For us, luxury is the feeling you experience as soon as you arrive. We meticulously select destinations, considering not just their physical beauty but also the energy of the place and the venue. We evaluate the quality of facilities and the level of service, ensuring they meet our high standards. Every practitioner who interacts with our guests is handpicked, aligned with our ethos, and deeply experienced in their craft.

We’re equally thoughtful about the food you eat: where it’s sourced, how it’s prepared and presented, and whether it’s both delicious and nourishing. Your accommodations are selected with care as well, from the softness of the sheets to the view from your room and its placement on the property, every detail is considered to create an environment of true comfort.

From the physical elements of your stay to the subtler energies of each experience, we examine every aspect of the journey. We even walk through it ourselves, first, to ensure it delivers the highest possible experience for you.

Having had the privilege of hosting some of the world’s most famous personalities in stunning hotels, I’ve learned that balancing a beautiful space with a truly welcoming spirit—inviting you as we would into our own home—can create an unforgettable, transformative experience.

I hope you’ll join us soon to experience this for yourself.
